Dr. Hatha Gbedawo
Naturopathic Physician

Greetings! My name is Dr. Hatha Gbedawo (Buh-Doww). I am a naturopathic physican specializing in pediatric medicine. My particular clinical interests include: childhood behavioral disorders, like Attention Deficit (ADD, ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), including: Autism, Asperger’s, PDD-NOS. I also focus on prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses in children, such as gastrointestinal disorders, chronic or recurrent infections (including Lyme Disease), food sensitivities, allergies, malnutrition, autoimmune disorders, asthma, eczema, and diabetes. As a primary care provider I focus on optimizing wellness with clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, and homeopathy. I believe that healing the whole family provides the best environment for healthy children. (Dr. Gbedawo and her her brother Solomon)
As practitioner utilizing Defeat Autism Now protocols, I offer a biomedical approach for children on the Autism Spectrum and can help you navigate through the multiple treatment options. In addition to the characteristic symptoms seen with autism, there are many co-morbid conditions that children on the spectrum also experience. Make sure to let me know if your child suffers from any of the following additional symptoms: chronic constipation and/or diarrhea, gas and bloating, food sensitivities, chronic yeast and immune irregularities, specific vitamin deficiencies, sleep problems, eating non-food items (paint, sand, dirt, paper, etc), low muscle tone, sensory sensitivities (sounds, sights, touch, taste, and smells), etc.
It is important to treat according to the individual symptoms of your child. Through laboratory testing dictated by the specific symptoms of your child a comprehensive individualized treatment program will be recommended. Some of these treatments include, but are not limited to: evaluation of vitamin and mineral status and replenishment, food and environmental allergy testing, specific diets (SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet), Yeast-free, Gluten Free, Casein Free), digestive disorder treatments, heavy metal detoxification and chelation if needed, antiviral treatments, and homeopathy. It is important to remember that chelation is not used to treat autism, but rather to treat heavy metal overload (lead, mercury, aluminum, etc), which can be a major cause of developmental delay.
Receiving a diagnosis of autism can be upsetting to some parents, for others it can be a relief to have a label for your child’s symptoms. The earlier the diagnosis the better, allowing for these children to receive appropriate treatment and improve their quality of life.
